Chemistry
Department of chemistry took its start in 1988, on make shift basis in old campus Muzaffarabad. Initially MSc, courses in the fields of organic, inorganic, physical and biochemistry were introduced. The department gradually flourishes itself with well equipped laboratories, highly qualified faculty and modern research facilities. Thus, the department achieved a level of good standards comparable with universities around the globe. At present, the department offers courses leading to MSc & M. Phil degrees. MSc degree programme is a two year course work in chemistry. This is to provide training in five special mainstream areas of chemistry i.e., Inorganic, Organic, bio, analytical and nuclear Chemistry. The course of Industrial, Environmental & Computational chemistry also included in third & fourth semesters as compulsory courses.
This combination of courses aims at providing familiarity with the general applied fields of chemistry. Presently, students and more then 25 MPhil scholars are registered in the department. Many faculty members are research oriented and have the credit of obtaining highest points and impact Factor among the list of productive scientists of Pakistan.
